Hardware Wallet Verification FAQ
1. What is Hardware Wallet Verification?
It's a way to confirm that a wallet involved in your deposit or withdrawal belongs to you. You connect your hardware wallet and approve a confirmation on the device. This process will cost nothing.
2. Why am I being asked to verify my wallet?
Regulations require us to confirm that transfers to and from private wallets are made by the account holder. Verifying ownership of your wallet allows us to release your deposit or complete your withdrawal. [read more]
3. Which hardware wallets are supported?
Wallet | OKX App | OKX Web |

Trezor | Coming soon | ✅ |
If you use Trezor, please complete verification on the OKX website for now — support in the app is coming.
4. Which cryptocurrencies can I verify this way?
Hardware Wallet Verification is currently available for Bitcoin (BTC) - Native SegWit/ Nested Segwit/ Legacy addresses. For the best experience, use a Native SegWit Bitcoin address for your BTC transfers.
Taproot addresses are not supported. If your transfer uses a Taproot address, please consider switching to Native Segwit. For other networks, you'll see the verification options available for that network when you start the process
5. How do I verify my Hardware wallet?
Select Digital Signature as your verification method.
Select Hardware Wallet option and follow the steps to connect your wallet.
Connect via bluetooth & approve the connection on your hardware device
Sign the verification message that appears on your hardware device
After the signature is completed successfully, your wallet address will be verified and you can continue completing the remaining Travel Rule process
6. It says "address not found". What should I do?
This means the address being verified couldn't be matched to the wallet you connected. The most common reasons:
You connected a different device. Connect the same device you made the deposit from — or, for a withdrawal, the device you're withdrawing to — and try again.
Your wallet has more than one account. On your device or wallet app, switch to the same account you made the deposit with (or are withdrawing to), then try again.
You have more than one wallet set up on the device. Retry using the wallet you made the deposit from (or are withdrawing to).
Someone else sent the funds. If the deposit came from another person's wallet, an exchange, or a third-party service, this method can't be used — please contact support.
7. Is it safe to connect my hardware wallet to OKX?
Yes. When you connect to your wallet, OKX reads the wallet's public account information — to confirm the addresses belong to you. This process cannot be used to move or spend your funds.
Your private keys never leave your device, and every confirmation must be approved by you, on the device itself. OKX will never ask you for your recovery phrase or PIN. The information we read is stored securely and used only to verify your wallet.
Ledger explains this in its own guidance on sharing an extended public key, including where it is used to verify accounts with an exchange.
8. My wallet won't connect.
Try the following:
Make sure your device is unlocked and the Bitcoin app is open on it
Check that Bluetooth (or your cable connection) is working
Close and reopen your wallet app, then try again
If it still doesn't connect, contact support with a screenshot of the error.
9. Do I need to send any funds to verify?
No. Verification is done by confirming on your device. You never need to send a transaction to prove ownership.
