Users who have already started account verification

Account freezing only applies to those who have started account verification.

Once you freeze your account, you won't be able to log in or register using the same email/phone/identity information. However, if you decide to unfreeze the account, you can unfreeze it by completing security authentication (Phone authentication, Email authentication and Authenticator app). You may contact our Customer Support for assistance if any difficulties are encountered.

If you need to freeze your account, here is a quick access link:

  1. Log in to the OKX official website.

  2. Go to your Profile in the upper right and select Security.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Freeze account.

  4. Read the risk notification carefully, check the required terms, then tap Freeze account again.

  5. Enter the SMS verification code and tap Confirm to complete the process.

Important Note: after successfully freezing the account, you'll no longer be able to log in, and the email/phone number linked to this account can't be used to sign up for a new account again.

How do I unfreeze a self-frozen account?

After your account is frozen, it'll be temporarily deactivated. You can log back into your account to unfreeze it later.

To unfreeze your account, you'll need to complete security verification steps, including phone verification, email verification, and authenticator app verification. If all your security settings are accessible, you can unfreeze your account directly via self-service.

Note: Security setting resets are not supported on the web. If you're unable to access your security settings, please contact our customer support for assistance.

Users who have not started account verification

For users who have not started account verification, please refer to the following steps to close your account.

Go to your Profile in the upper right > Select Security > Scroll to the bottom of the page > Manage account > Close account. Once confirmed, the account will enter the closure process and will be officially closed after 30 days.

Important Note: after the 30-day waiting period, the phone number and email address linked to the account can be used for new registrations. This also applies to accounts closed due to KYC verification failure or manually closed by customer support — a 30-day waiting period is required before the account is officially released. During this period, the same phone number or email address cannot be used to register a new account. For the stability of your user experience, we recommend proceeding with caution.

How do I close/delete my account after started identity verification?

Accounts that have started identity verification can‘t be canceled or closed at this time, but you can apply to freeze your account to suspend its use. Furthermore, successfully verified identity verification can't be changed.
