As revealed in a press release, Emirates and Crypto.com have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the use of cryptocurrencies for payments.

According to the agreement, Emirates would integrate Crypto.com Pay within its payment systems.

The integration, which is expected to take effect next year, will allow Emirates customers to use crypto for payments.

This means customers can pay for their flight tickets with cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and others.

Emirates stated that the proposed integration with Crypto.com is designed to meet evolving customer preferences.

Notably, the Gen Z and millennials are more tech-savvy and prefer to use digital assets for payments.

As Emirates meets the evolving needs of its customers, it also expands the everyday use case for crypto.

The airline aims to bring more momentum to the digital asset industry. The goal for Emirates and Crypto.com is to provide genuine and innovative financial solutions for their customers.

In May, Dubai-listed Air Arabia revealed plans to accept UAE dirham-backed stablecoin AE Coin for flight bookings.

Moreover, several international travel agencies and hotels already accept Bitcoin transfers.

Alternative Airlines is a major travel player that has stayed true to the blockchain ecosystem over the past few years.

The platform enables users to book flights from various airlines, offering the option to pay using over 100 cryptocurrencies.

Crypto.com Pay provides easy-to-use plugins and APIs that enable quick setup for merchants without technical barriers.

Additionally, Crypto.com offers low or zero transaction fees, making it more affordable than traditional platforms with higher processing costs.

Their decision comes in light of Dubai’s well-developed regulatory framework, anchored by the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA). This framework ensures safety and compliance for clients worldwide.
