Anthropic CEO talks about slowing down AI development: This industry has lied for too long, AI risks are real, but there's no need to "shut everything down"
Original author: Long Yue Original source: Wallstreetcn On the very same weekend when the world's three AI giants unusually joined forces to call for a "slowdown in AI R&D," Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei sat down in front of CBS's cameras and spoke about the potential risks AI might pose to humanity. On September 13, Amodei gave an exclusive interview to CBS's Sunday Morning. At the start of the interview, host Jo Ling Kent directly raised the question: Is AI really capable of killing all of us in

#Wal_Street hasn’t opened yet, but one of #crypto’s favorite narratives just got a stress test. $Nasdaq-100 futures fell 1.72% after $ANTHROPIC’s CEO urged AI developers to slow model advances—a call backed by Sam Altman and Elon Musk. Chipmakers slid as much as ~6%. For AI-linked crypto, today’s risk isn’t a protocol bug. It’s the narrative itself being repriced#FOMCRateCallThisWeek #AnthropicIPOOnNasdaq #TrumpAcceptsNewEthics

Imagine being able to buy shares in one of the companies building the AI models everyone is talking about. That’s what makes the idea of an Anthropic Nasdaq IPO interesting to me. We’ve already seen the AI boom create huge value for chipmakers, cloud providers and data-center companies. But Anthropic would represent something different direct exposure to a company actually building the AI models themselves. Personally, I’d be curious to see how public markets would value a business like this. Would investors focus on revenue growth? Claude adoption? Enterprise customers? Computing costs? Or would the AI narrative itself be enough to support a huge valuation? And there’s another side I’d watch closely: AI models are incredibly expensive to build and operate. Fast growth sounds great, but eventually public market investors will want to know what the path to sustainable profitability looks like. If Anthropic eventually reaches Nasdaq, I think the IPO would be more than just another tech listing. #AnthropicIPOOnNasdaq $BTC

#AnthropicIPOOnNasdaq Anthropic is reportedly targeting an October Nasdaq IPO, with filings expected near the end of September and roadshows potentially beginning in mid-October. Discussions involve raising as much as $100 billion at a valuation close to $2 trillion, which would make the offering one of the largest public-market events in history. Nvidia is reportedly considering an anchor investment of up to $10 billion. The IPO would test whether public investors are willing to assign infrastructure-scale valuations to frontier AI companies. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has also called for a slower pace of frontier AI development until safety governance improves. That position could become a competitive advantage if customers value responsible deployment, but it may also create tension with investors demanding rapid product growth. The central question is whether safety governance becomes a moat—or a constraint on revenue expansion and iteration speed.

#AnthropicIPOOnNasdaq $2T isn't capital rotating from OpenAI or SpaceX. It's comparables math Palantir trades near 53x revenue, Cloudflare/SpaceX near 41x. A 10x multiple on Anthropic's 2028 target alone clears $2T. That means $1.2T in revenue within a decade, 18x today's run rate. Wall Street's valuation people are split on whether that's real. Not a rotation debate. A growth-curve debate.

When the creator themselves asks for their creation to be slowed down... 🤯 The CEO of Anthropic (maker of the Claude AI) has just called for AI development to be slowed down for the sake of global safety. What do you think—is this a genuine warning or just a business strategy? Spot traders should keep an eye on $BTC and $ETH for broader market reactions
