How do I trade a USD pair using USDC or another stablecoin?
If you search for a pair like BTC/USDC and don't see it listed on its own, that doesn't mean you can't trade BTC using USDC. On OKX, USD and USD-pegged stablecoins share a single order book, so a USD pair can be traded and settled in the stablecoin you choose. Selecting your stablecoin on a BTC/USD pair gives you the same result as a dedicated stablecoin market, using the same liquidity.
What is the Unified USD Orderbook?
The Unified USD Orderbook brings the liquidity of USD and USD-pegged stablecoins together into one order book. Because the liquidity is shared, these markets are displayed as XXX-USD. The pair name tells you the quote currency is USD; it doesn't mean you have to hold fiat USD.
If you and the other side of the trade use different assets, OKX handles the conversion in the background. You don't need to convert anything yourself first.
Choosing which asset to trade with doesn't add a charge. The maker or taker fee for your fee tier applies.
How do I trade a USD pair with a stablecoin?
Applies to spot trading on a USD pair, for example BTC/USD.
Go to Spot trading and select a USD pair.
In the order panel, open the Trade with selector and choose the asset you want to pay with. The selector lists the assets available to you on that pair.
Open the Receive selector and choose the asset you want to receive when the order fills.
Place your order.
If you can't see the Trade with or Receive selectors, update your app to the latest version, then check the pair again on web.
Why does my stablecoin balance show 0 on a USD pair?
If your available balance shows 0.00 on a USD pair, the order panel is most likely still set to a different Trade with asset. Switch Trade with to the asset you actually hold and your balance will appear. Two other things to check:
The asset has to sit in your Trading account. Funds in your Funding account aren't available to spot orders. Use Transfer to move them.
An asset subscribed to Earn, or locked as margin, isn't available to spot. Redeem or release it first.
How do I check which assets I can trade with right now?
The assets you can select in Trade with and Receive can differ by pair, by account and over time. Rather than working from a list, check in the product: open the pair you want, open the Trade with selector, and see what's offered on your account. If the asset you expect isn't there, contact support and we'll check your account.
