Card payments move through multiple stages. Understanding the status helps you know whether you should wait, contact the merchant, or contact our customer support.

Pending (authorization)

A pending transaction means the merchant has authorized the payment but hasn’t settled it yet.

Common examples:

  • hotels

  • car rentals

  • pay-at-pump fuel

  • online merchants that ship later

Pending transactions can:

  • remain visible for a few days

  • change amount when settlement posts

  • disappear if reversed

Completed (settled)

A completed transaction means settlement has finalized.

  • This is usually the final amount you paid.

  • If you return something later, you’ll see a separate refund entry.

Reversed / voided

A reversal means the authorization was canceled before settlement.

  • The pending hold should be released once processed.

  • Timing depends on merchant and network.

Refunded

A refund is a separate transaction initiated after settlement.

  • It may take several business days to post.

Why can the amount change?

Some merchants authorize estimated amounts, then settle a different amount:

  • tips added later

  • partial shipments

  • weight-based goods

  • hotel incidentals

When should I contact support?

You should contact OKX Assistant if:

  • a pending transaction remains unusually long

  • a completed amount doesn’t match your receipt

  • You suspect unauthorized activity

Provide: merchant, date/time, amount, screenshots/receipt.
